Cereal Rye - Secale cereale 1 kg
Cereal Rye - Secale cereale
Cereal rye is commonly sown after crops are harvested in the fall. It is very hardy, an efficient Nitrogen scavenger and adapted to a wide range of conditions. The latest-sown cover crop, it produces a lot of biomass if allowed to grow into late spring. This adds organic matter to the soil but can be difficult to incorporate prior to crop planting. It can be left as narrow strips to serve as windbreaks between blocks of crops in the spring. Sow from late summer to mid-October in most areas.
